How is UpToDate different from other resources I use?
UpToDate is unlike any other clinical resource:
More comprehensive than any other individual resource, UpToDate
contains the equivalent of over 80,000 pages of
original, peer-reviewed text.
Its unique format and search capability allow you to access
answers to clinical questions in seconds. You get the
answer you need when you need it.
It is continually updated by a staff of physician editors in
conjunction with over 4,000 authors, section editors, and peer
reviewers so that the entire content is always current.
We publish new content every four months.
The expert faculty synthesizes and summarizes the latest
evidence and provides specific, practical
recommendations for diagnosis and treatment.
It combines broad coverage of adult primary
care, subspeciality internal medicine, ob/gyn, and pediatrics.
We update our content and publish a new release every four
months. This content is available on the Web, desktop computer, and PDA. Each
software release completely replaces the previous releases. After
sending you the final software release for your subscription period, we
will contact you to renew your subscription. You may also renew online
at www.uptodate.com/renew.
UpToDate performs a continuous comprehensive review of over 430 journals
to keep the program updated. All of the topics in UpToDate are revised
whenever important new information is published, not by any specific
time schedule. Updates are integrated carefully, with specific
statements as to how the new findings should be applied clinically. Each
topic has a date indicating the most recent time the topic has been
reviewed and/or modified. On average, approximately 40 percent of the
topics are updated during each four-month cycle. A subset of updates
added during each four-month cycle can be viewed by clicking What's New
on the toolbar and selecting the What's New topic for your area of
interest. These represent, according to our editors, the most important
new updates added during the previous four months.
UpToDate was designed by physicians to be easy to use.
You do not need special computer knowledge. All you need to do is point
and click. Simply go to www.uptodate.com
and log in. Individual subscribers can also install UpToDate on
a desktop computer and a PDA device.
Subscribers can view demonstrations of the web, desktop computer, and PDA
versions by visiting www.uptodate.com/help,
and our Technical Support and Customer Service representatives are
available to help you during your subscription period.
How can UpToDate help for teaching, conferences, and
documentation?
Our service includes thousands of full-color graphics and charts
that you can print or use as slides. Topics can also be printed to use
for handouts at lectures or to give to referring physicians within
the provisions of our Subscription and License Agreement.
