A memory card is an external card that can be inserted into your PDA. Information is stored on this device, which when inserted into the PDA allows for additional memory.
A memory card reader is a piece of hardware that will connect the memory card to the computer in order to allow information to be transferred from the computer to the memory card.
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. This is one of the ports available with desktop and laptop computers that allow a transfer of data through the USB port into whichever device is attached to the port.
Is a memory card reader necessary for installing UpToDate
on my PDA device?
Yes, the memory card reader is required for the UpToDate
program. While many other programs may be able to install directly
through the PDA cradle, UpToDate is too large and complex for
this to be possible. Instead, a memory card reader device is utilized to
install information onto the memory card.
Why am I unable to choose a destination for my memory card during PDA installation?
If you see this screen, it may be caused by one of the following:
Your memory card reader may not be securely plugged into the USB slot on your computer. Check and reinsert the plug into the USB slot.
The memory card may not be properly inserted into the card reader. Remove the card and reinsert it completely.
The memory card may be inserted into your PDA rather than the memory card reader. Remove the memory card from the PDA and place it into the card reader.
